When are kids ready to learn plays?
Coach Jim McGannon founded Basics Sports, a youth sports program in West Michigan, in 2006. Right out of the gate his approach was different than what was available in the area. Basics Sports offered, as the name suggests, a true education in the development of basic basketball building blocks which when stacked, create competitive habits. His approach to the game begins and ends with Coach Wooden’s anthem of helping develop the players to their full potential ON and OFF the court. The players who attend Basics instruction receive strong skill development and reinforcement. The success of the addition of Mental Strength Training solidified that practiced skills and mental conditioning are necessary to the development of a competitive player.
